Latter House Consult

Latter House Consult is the Company Secretarial Unit of Wemimo Ogunde & Co. We provide clients with a broad range of company secretarial services such as: Company Incorporation; Business Name Registration; Statutory Filings at the Corporate Affairs Commission as well as the Securities and Exchange Commission; and Coordination of Company Meetings. Latter House Consult also functions as the training and consultancy arm of Wemimo Ogunde & Co. We organize trainings for in-house lawyers, court clerks, government officials and young lawyers on matters pertaining to Nigerian substantive and procedural law. It is worthy of note that in-house lawyers have found our training on dispute avoidance and prevention techniques particularly useful in their business operations. Young lawyers have also found our Trainee Counsel programme beneficial in the development of requisite skills for legal practice.

On February 6th 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari assented to the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Bill which repealed certain sections of the Investment and Securities Act 2007 namely sections 118- 128 (excluding section 121(1) (d)) of the ISA 2007. Based on the statement issued by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the effect of this repeal on merger transactions is that SEC will no longer be involved with mergers between private companies but will now be restricted to mergers involving public companies and change in the shareholding of capital market operators.
