Profile
Wemimo is the Founder and Principal Counsel of the firm. Wemimo is a leading Senior Advocate of Nigeria as well as a former Attorney General of Ogun State. Since his call to the Nigerian bar in 1983, he has practised as a lawyer and over the years, he has distinguished himself in the legal profession as an intelligent and experienced lawyer who achieved excellence through dedication and integrity. Wemimo has successfully argued several cases in all courts of record in Nigeria including landmark cases pursued at the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. Wemimo is well known for his sound advocacy skills and the ability to proffer practical and innovative solutions to complex legal matters. Notably, a Supreme Court judge, Honourable Justice Esho J.S.C (as he then was) commended a brief solely written by Wemimo when he was only four (4) years at the bar as “brilliant”. He trained at the law firm of Gani Fawehinmi & Co before he entered into law partnership with two other well-qualified lawyers at four (4) years post-call. The partnership till its dissolution recorded many successes including training some successful legal practitioners today. Wemimo has recorded several professional achievements, some of which include:
- Member, Presidential Committee on Police Equipment Fund 2005-2007 (a committee instituted under the Obasanjo administration)
- Chairman, Prosecutors Interactive Sessions Committee EFCC 2004-2006
- Conferment of the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria 2011
- Attorney General of Ogun State of Nigeria 2011-2013
- Chairman, Ogun State Council on Prerogative of Mercy 2011-2013
- Member, General Council of the Nigerian Bar 2011-2013
- Member, National Prosecution Coordination Committee 2016-till date
(a committee instituted under the Buhari/Osinbajo administration
He is a fellow at the American Bar Association (one of only three Nigerians to be conferred with that title) and also a merit award winner for professional excellence at his alma mater, Igbobi College Lagos (one of the oldest and most prestigious colleges in Nigeria and the alma mater of several prominent Nigerians). He is a regular speaker at various conferences, seminars and workshops organised both in the legal profession and in other sectors.
